P.E. CLASS
October 28 to Nov. 1, 2013

Week 3, UN Day is coming…

As always, Ladies & Gentlemen, for P.E. class:
-  No dresses for the girls
-  No jeans
-  No crocks
-  No sandals
-  No boots or shoes
(Please, mom & dad collaborate with us by sending a proper sunscreen or sun block with your son or daughter to avoid any skin rash, and there is a need for a fly repellent as well.)

9th – 11th grade, continuing with volleyball, we will keep improving our setting skills and as for the “Workout project”, here is the list for this week’s performers:

·       Monday- for 10th B Nicole Rojas
·       Tuesday- for 9th Aleah Driggers and for 10th A Luis F. Lopez.
·       Wednesday UN Day
·       Thursday- for 9th Ana Cuevas and for 10th A Alejandro Lopez
·       Friday- finally 11th (welcome back!), for them Andrea Martinez will perform and for 10th B Daniela Leal  

6th to 8th grade, great week as well, we will start practicing for volleyball, so get ready!

Take notice about the information below.-

U.N. DAY CELEBRATION-  The DPTO is organizing our annual U.N. Day celebration for this Wednesday, October 30. We hope our parents can join us this day. The celebration will begin at 9:00 a.m. to allow parents time to set up their tables. Students will be dismissed from school at 11:45 a.m. The DPTO has planned an International Fashion Show for the UN Day, and they need your help! If you want to participate by modeling or by lending any typical costume that you may have, please contact Marielos or Alexanderia at the following email addresses:  mmm9487@yahoo.com  or  amhaidara05@yahoo.com

DONATIONS NEEDED:  Don’t forget to send in cereal boxes for Ya Tengo Donde Escribir” between now and November 20. The grade that brought the most boxes will be awarded a pizza party or ice cream party! Please help us help those in need!

For Early Childhood and Elementary Only:

BOOK CHARACTER DAY – The Early Childhood and Elementary students are asked to come dressed as their favorite book character on Thursday, October 31. Grades 3, 4 and 5 will be hosting a live wax museum of book characters during the second period.

CHILDREN’S OPERA AT THE MANUEL BONILLA – Grades Kindergarten through Fifth have been invited to the presentation of LA TORTUGA Y LA MAGICA CANCIONUWUNGELEMA, the first Children’s Opera to be presented in Honduras. This opera ws wriiten and directed by Maestro Jorge Mejia. The students will be attending this presentation on Wednesday, November 6. We will leave the school at 8:00 a.m. and return at around 11:00 a.m. The fee for the entrance and transportation is L180.00, which must be sent to the school no later than Friday, November 1. For this field trip, each grade must have one parent chaperon for every 4 students. If you are interested, please contact your child’s teacher.

For Secondary Only:

COMMUNITY SERVICE CLUB-  We will have a meeting on Tuesday, October 29, at lunchtime in Mrs. Christina Agurcia's room.  We will discuss our visit to Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos on Sunday, November 3rd and preparation for the annual Christmas party.  All secondary students are invited to attend.

OPERATION WALLACEA- Operation Wallacea is an international organization that joins high school and university students with field research scientists to aid in gathering data for biodiversity conservation, here in Honduras and in other locations throughout the world.  Representatives from this organization will present information on Tuesday, October 29, at 3:15 PM in the Discovery School library.  Students from Grades 8-12 and their parents are invited to attend and learn about this amazing opportunity.
