P.E. CLASS

March 31 to April 4, 2014

“Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old.”

As always reminding you that for P.E. class:
We need all students to wear proper clothing for the class.
·       Sneakers, long shorts (boys and girls) or sweat pants, and t-shirt (without cleavage) or jerseys.

-  No dresses for the girls
-  No jeans
-  No crocs
-  No sandals
-  No boots or shoes

(Please, mom & dad collaborate with us by sending a proper sunscreen or sun block with your son or daughter to avoid any skin rash, and please include a mosquito repellent as well.)

9th – 11th grade, we will be working on our abs muscles, as these are a fundamental for a good performance in sprint running and in almost every single track & field discipline. In addition we will have some relay run drills.

6th to 8th grade, we will be working in physical conditioning, this is still our priority, emphasizing more in the abs muscles, as this is one of the key parts our body that needs to be developed to outperform in almost every single discipline of track & field .

Please take notice of following information:

EARLY CHILDHOOD AND ELEMENTARY READ-A-THON –Our Early Childhood and Elementary READ – A – THON concludes today.  Reading logs must be submitted by Tuesday, April 1. We will announce the winners soon!

            For everyone:

MARKETING DISCOVERY SCHOOL:  The Marketing Committee has been very active in developing ways to market the school. We have brochures and colorful signs that will let the public know more about us. If you have a business or organization that would like to display either a sign or brochures, please contact Karla Soto, Marketing Coordinator, at dsmarketing@discoveryschool.edu.hn  and we will provide those to you.

CHOIR MEETING – There will be a Choir meeting on Monday, March 31 at 3:15 p.m. in the school library. Important information will be discussed in this meeting. At least one parent for each student who is going to New York City must attend!

*       AFTER-SCHOOL SPORTS – Don’t forget that the children of Discovery School staff members can join the After-School Sports Program at half price. Please let Ms. Carol or Mr. Richard know if you are interested. The group meets on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 3:15 – 5:00 p.m.

*       Special mention for the UN Model Representatives headed by Mr. Fenn that in all of the 5 committees where they participated, they won either 1st place or 2nd place for our school, and in one case they won both 1st and 2nd!  In addition, the peer delegates voted Discovery School as excellent (evidenced by the peer awards).  Our reputation at the Model UN is that Discovery School is superb.  Many students from other schools verbally praised Discovery School and were intimidated by us just because of our name.  Excellent job, students and coach!
